My girlfriends and I had brunch at Comida a couple of weeks ago and had a bunch of delicious food. We started with some churro pancakes. That is right, you read that correctly. If you like churros, then I suggest to try and grab some of these. They had a bit of some spice to them, maybe the cinnamon. But they had a kick. We went with a chicken quesadilla, shrimp torta, jalapenos, nachos and pozole and split everything. The quesadilla was my favorite. Drizzled in a crema sauce and the chicken was marinated and seasoned well. The service was great. We were never left with an empty drink. The cocktails are a bit pricey. We are used to bottomless mimosas or some kind of a mimosa deal. Other than that, we all had a great experience.
My name is Carly P and I'm a taco-holic! Ha! I finally got to take the BF and our two besites to Comida (at The Source) for some tacos and fun! Here's a run down of our evening: To ease in to our taco feast, we ordered the Comida Chips and Salsas. For our three salsa choices we decided on the Comida Salsa, salsa verde, and pico de gallo. I personally enjoyed the Comida Salsa and the salsa verde the most. The men ordered a couple Modello's, while us women sipped on the Pineapple Habanero Margarita. Def one of my favorite margs! I love anything that's sweet and spicy. For the main event, we each ordered two to three tacos that come out family style on one plate. There was a variety everyone noshed on including a selection of the griddled tacos. My personal favorites are the Stella's Pork Carnitas and the Camarones a la Diabla! Next time I think I'm going to try them gordita style! I think the only things that detracted from our visit were: 1. The very distracted hostess (that didn't see (or hear) us waiting to be acknowledged) and 2. The multiple requests we placed for more chips. Not terrible, but enough to be mildly frustrating. I know that I'll be back to Comida's various locations for more of those tasty tacos (and margs!) they be slinging! **Pro Tip: They offer a Monday through Friday HH (Happy Hour) from 3pm to 6pm. Def get in on that action if you can!
Had the pineapple habanero margarita, the agua de Jamaica margarita and Stella's pork carnitas tacos. The tacos were banging and reasonably priced at $4. The same goes the the margaritas priced at $7-8/glass. The kick on the habanero margarita was outrageously good. This is by far the most affordable food joint in The Source, and all the food and drinks around us looked great. If we didn't have reservations at Acorn next door, we would have probably eaten here.
After we were done drinking our beers at the Crooked Stave, we walked over to eat some tacos for dinner. These were probably the best $4 tacos that you'll ever have in the Denver area. They served on soft corn tortillas. They give you a menu and an order sheet. Just write down how many of each item that you want. Here's what I had: *High West Rendezvous Rye Whiskey* Not too bad. However it was burning and stinging the heck out of my chapped lips. *Stella's Pork Carnitas* Slow cooked pork shoulder in Stella Artois over smoked gouda sweet potato mash with pineapple habañero salsa. This was a very flavorful carnitas. Good stuff! *Camerones a la Diabla* Spicy shrimp over jalapeño grits with pico de gallo, avocado, lime, house crema and cotija. I love shrimp tacos, but I wasn't a fan of the crema and cotija cheese. Simple, fast, and delicious! Great place to get some quick bites in a relaxed atmosphere.
I had the watermelon jalapeño margarita and my hubby had the pineapple habanero margarita. Both have a great kick and definitely different than the traditional margaritas you would get elsewhere.
